dARTboard-call

Drawings made on entire cities and the creation of news-savvy water — the dARTboard, a digital art space launched in 2012 on Vilcek.org, has already seen its fair share of innovative and visionary works from US-based foreign-born digital artists forging the path into the future of new media arts.

Now, the Vilcek Foundation looks to identify the next featured digital artist for this unique art space, with the dARTboard Call for Entries in Digital Art. The chosen applicant will be invited to exhibit work on the dARTboard in early 2014 and receive an honorarium of $5,000.

The Foundation is now accepting submissions of work from foreign-born artists living permanently in the US, who use computer-based and new media technologies. Categories of eligible work include, but are not limited to:

  • Net art
  • Mobile applications
  • New media installations/environments

Applicants must be foreign-born (originally foreign citizens) and be permanent US residents (green card holders) or naturalized US citizens.

Deadline: October 21, 2013, at 11:59 p.m. EDT

Application Fee: None

The Vilcek Foundation was established in 2000 by Jan and Marica Vilcek, immigrants from the former Czechoslovakia. The mission of the Foundation, to honor the contributions of foreign-born scholars and artists living in the United States, was inspired by the couple’s careers in biomedical science and art history, respectively, as well as their personal experiences and appreciation for the opportunities they received as newcomers to this country.
