  1. Again, at my age, I’ve fallen behind. More and more I see the terms ‘artists’ and ‘creatives’, but I am not sure I understand the distinction. Can someone explain it to me? ‘Artists’, it seems to me, creatives, and, on the other hand, in what way/instances are ‘creatives’ excluded from, or distinct from being artists?
Or, I might ask: Are we what we call ourselves – artist, creative, painter, sculptor, wood-worker, etc.?

    1. Artists can certainly be included under the “creatives” classification, but it leaves room to include curators, writers, art educators, etc. as some of our opportunities are not targeted toward visual artists!

      1. Thanks. Good explanation. Not your fault, but it seems like, in that case there ought to be another term. I usually love it when adjectives and verbs are used — creatively — as nouns, but (again, not your fault) this one just doesn’t do it for me. Personal taste.

  2. Thanks for this. I suspect that Hyperallergic is privy to many activities that are in the planning.
Appreciate you taking the time to share.
